Welcome! I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child. I hope the information in this letter will help answer any questions you may have.
CONTACTING ME
Kindergarten is a big step in the life of your child. I know that you will have questions and concerns from time to time. You may contact me in the following ways.
Ø Write a note in your child’s agenda book.
Ø Call the school 828-4360 and leave a message. This is the best choice if I will need the information before the end of the school day and you did not send a note in the morning.
Ø I can also speak with you if you call after 2:30.
Please put your child’s name and room number (S-114) on anything he/she brings to school including their lunchbox, backpack, jacket, sweater, boots, umbrella, etc. Many children have similar items at school, which can make it difficult to identify the owner.
LUNCH
The Hudson City School District has a meal program where all sutdents are eligible to receive breakfast and lunch at NO CHARGE! There is nothing you need to do. A menu will be sent home every month.
Bus Information
You should have received your child's bus tag in the welcome packet. Please verify that the information on it is correct and attach the tag to their book bag. Just a reminder that the district transportation policy states "any change has to be requested two days before it is to go into effect. No changes can be made the day before or the same day the change is needed."
AGENDA BOOKS
Each child will have their own agenda book. They should bring it back and forth between home and school each day. You may place any money or notes in the front pocket. Please use the dated spaces to write notes or ask questions and I will do the same.
SNACK Children will need to bring a snack each day to school. Snack time is used as a learning and social time in our classroom. Therefore, I ask that all children participate and that you try to send in something healthy. During snack the children learn about nutrition and healthy foods, appropriate manners and communication skills.
SUPPLY LIST & WISH LIST
The list of supplies your child needs is attached. Along with the supplies needed is a wish list of items that we use on a regular basis in our classroom and that are not supplied by the school district. We appreciate donations of these items throughout the school year. Thank you.
MISCELLANOUS (BUT HELPFUL) INFORMATION
